Plankton floats in the Gulf Stream

Plankton floats in the warm waters of he Gulf Stream off Ocracoke Island, NC. Plankton can be a nurturer of sea life - as many fish feed off of them - but when plankton's growth gets out of control, deadly blooms can take over the water and deplete oxygen, choking and suffocating other life.
