GIANNI PIKEGianni Pike struggles against his parents and several volunteers as they try to place a lifejacket on him at the Surfers Healing event in Wrightsville Beach, NC. The event is a day at the beach where autistic children and their families are be exposed to the experience of surfing. Many autistic children often suffer from sensory overload- everyday sensations are overwhelming to them. For some, water is a very soothing medium. The goal of the group is to offer a new experience that may be used as positive therapy.
